Cookies and Browser Storage

What Web Answerly stores in your browser, why, and when consent is needed.

Version 1.0 · Last updated 7 October 2026

This document is not yet in effect. It takes effect once the company that operates Web Answerly is registered in Australia and its name, ABN and ACN appear below. Until then it describes how Web Answerly works and what we intend to commit to. Questions: legal@webanswerly.com.

Web Answerly is operated from Victoria, Australia. The operating company is being registered. Its legal name, ABN and ACN will appear here, and it will be the party to this document, before the document takes effect. In this document "Web Answerly", "we", "us" and "our" mean that company.

1. Our website and dashboard

webanswerly.com uses no advertising cookies and no third-party analytics or tracking tools. It stores only what is needed to sign you in, keep you in the right workspace, and remember a display choice you make. For that reason we do not show a cookie banner.

NameTypePurposeHow long
sb-…-auth-token (may be split into numbered parts)CookieKeeps you signed in. Set by our authentication provider.Until you sign out or the session expires
sb-…-auth-token-code-verifierCookieProtects email sign-in links and sign-in with Google against interception.Removed when sign-in completes
ad_workspaceCookie (HTTP-only)Remembers which workspace you are working in.Until you sign out or your browser clears it
themeLocal storageRemembers light or dark mode, only if you change it.Until you clear it

2. Hosted chat pages

When a business shares a chat page with you (an address under webanswerly.com/chat), the page stores only what the conversation needs, and only in this tab, so it asks for no consent:

NameTypePurposeHow long
ad_conv_hosted_…Session storageKeeps the current conversation, and the token that lets you see replies from the business's team, if you reload the page.Until you close the tab
ad_visitor_hostedSession storageA random identifier for this tab, written after you send your first message, so the conversation's messages stay together.Until you close the tab

3. The chat widget on our customers' websites

The widget a business adds to its own website stores nothing optional until the website tells it that you have given consent, either through the website's own consent banner or by a setting the business chooses. The business that runs the website is responsible for asking for that consent where its law requires it.

NameTypeNeeds consentPurpose
ad_conv_<agent>Session storageNo — needed for a conversation you startKeeps your current conversation, the token for team replies, and a marker of the signed-in customer, if any, while you move between pages. Cleared when you close the tab.
ad_visitor_idLocal storageYesA random identifier that links your visits. Until consent, it exists only in memory for the current page.
ad_cfg_<agent>Local storageYesA copy of the widget's settings, for up to 24 hours, so it opens faster.
ad_proactive_<agent>Local storageYesWhen a greeting was last shown, so it is not repeated too often.

If consent is withdrawn, the widget removes the optional items it stored. Businesses can find how to connect the widget to their consent tool on each agent's Widget page in the dashboard.

4. Managing storage

You can delete cookies and site storage in your browser settings at any time. If you delete the sign-in cookies you will be signed out, and if you delete the conversation storage the current chat will start afresh.
